This is a short summary of some of our recent and current GNSS/DGNSS projects:
DGPS Modernisation
The GLAs will continue to provide the IALA radiobeacon DGNSS service meeting the needs of current users. Modernisation of this service is taking place and will be completed in 2010, with replacement of all DGPS receivers, beacon transmitters and control equipment. The contract to implement this change has been awarded to Babcock.
DGPS Verification
The GLAs verification process conducted by R&RNAV involves monitoring the received signals from the GLA DGPS network at locations around the British Isles and Ireland to ensure the service meets the international requirements.

Predicted field strengths from the 14 GLA DGPS stations for day and night time periods calculated using the BARAM coverage model.
Real-time DGNSS monitoring
This project is investigating the feasibility of replacing the current verification process of taking the mobile monitoring unit (MMU) to different locations and it is anticipated it will use fixed infrastructure sited at various locations. This is primarily an internal R&RNAV project, but if successful, the system developed can be employed by the GLAs to monitor the performance of the DGNSS service.
GNSS-INS
This project investigated the use of GNSS and inertial systems working together to enhance the users position, particularly during any short GNSS outages.
