By the nature of the work, the GLAs are keen to share our understanding and knowledge of improving the safety of mariners and do so though participating in international and national bodies. The following list gives an example of some of the committees supported by R&RNAV:
Radio Technical Committee for Maritime Services (RTCM)
The Radio Technical Committee for Maritime Services (RTCM) SC-104 (Differential Correction messages) maintains the standards for differential data formats and these are then incorporated in ITU-R Recommendation M.823, which sets out the technical characteristics for DGNSS. IALA provides operational performance standards for DGNSS and coordinates the development of the system internationally.
European Maritime Radionavigation Forum (EMRF)
European Maritime Radionavigation Forum (EMRF) is made up of European maritime administrations, user groups and service providers. It was set up to provide information exchange on radionavigation services in Europe and to give feedback to EU institutions on user needs and service levels.
