ELoran Shipboard Monitoring
In this project, all six GLA vessels have been fitted with eLoran monitoring systems:
These units contain eLoran and GPS receivers, with a hard-drive for autonomous collection of eLoran coverage information. This data has been gradually fed back into our central database of Loran performance throughout the GLAs’ service area and provides important data for our other projects. For example, the plot below shows where we have made measurements of the strength of the eLoran signal broadcast from our transmitter in Cumbria:
