ASF Measurement and Processing Best Practice
The work performed within the scope of this project will be needed to ensure the efficient and cost effective provision of high quality and high integrity ASF data allowing the mariner to navigate and position using eLoran with the highest possible accuracy.
The project allows the GLAs to develop the techniques and processes required to ensure the highest quality provision of ASF data.
The GLAs have procured ASF measurement equipment for use in ASF measurement surveys. The equipment will form the core of our measurement suite. The requirements for state of the art ASF measurement are for the most part well understood and this project has built upon such knowledge to expand the GLAs' capabilities in terms of measurement technique and processing. This includes the development of an integrity-based ASF error budget, real-time ASF measurement and processing software, and a method for identifying the survey needs for each harbour and harbour approach.
The diagram below shows a screen capture of R&RNAV’s ASF surveying software displaying the Anthorn ASF grid for the approach into Harwich and Felixstowe harbour.
