Pelangi signs agreement with Trinity House to manufacture new high output LED light source

Sealite Pty Ltd is pleased to announce that its UK subsidiary, Pelangi International Limited, has signed a manufacturing agreement with Trinity House to produce a new LED light source developed by the General Lighthouse Authorities Research and Radionavigation Directorate.

The new light source is designed for modernisation of large lighthouse prismatic lenses, increasing their efficiency and reducing maintenance.

Previous attempts at LED solutions were bulky and inefficient. The new LED light source offers both a simple and economical solution for conversion of most prismatic optics, whether they are stationary drum lenses or rotating optics.

With recent advances in technology, and considerable design effort, the new LED light source can now utilise the highly efficient optical gain generated by traditional Fresnel lenses, which makes solarisation a viable option.

The new LED light source has been fully tested and proven photometrically by ‘in-situ’ measurements in the field conducted by the General Lighthouse Authorities Research and Radionavigation Directorate (R&RNAV).

Malcolm Nicholson, Principal Development Engineer (Visual Signalling) of the General Lighthouse Authorities R&RNAV commented, “R&RNAV are delighted with this agreement. It’s a great opportunity to get our design out to a wider audience through the customer base that Pelangi has.”
