As e-Navigation develops, the GLAs are:
- Supporting the UK Government and the IMO in e-Navigation development and standardisation
- Participating in the work of IALA in developing requirements and standards for the shore-side infrastructure to support e-Navigation
- Investigating the format and content of AtoN information the GLAs may need to provide to optimise the operation of e-Navigation
- Investigating applications of e-Navigation that will provide benefits for the GLAs and their stakeholders
These are a short summary of some of our recent and current e-Navigation projects:
e-Navigation System Design
This project is considering how e-Navigation may develop and contributing to the risk analysis and cost benefit analysis. Following assessment of user requirements the work will identify applications relevant to the GLA and identify the benefits and progress towards potential system design.
AtoN information systems
This project is investigating the formatting and content of Aids-to-Navigation information to maximise benefit to the maritime sector. This includes investigating what information will need to be made available to the mariner to enable e-Navigation and how this can best be achieved.
